Lou wants to discuss the spate of presidential candidacy announcements. Mike notes that Hillary Clinton‘s been relatively out of the public eye of late . . . to which Mr. X responds that her advisors are busy rebranding her for her 2016 presidential run. The discussion turns to campaign financing and the age-old issue of removing money from politics. Lou reads from an article by Wayne Allen Root in which he describes Hillary as “manna from Heaven” for Republicans, dubbing her “Tricky Dickey” Hillary because of her association with the Nixon era.
Segment II (15:56)
Mike notes that his daughter Rachel will be old enough to vote in the 2016 and sees some hope in the youth as they begin to ask questions about politicians appearing on the national scene. X—in discussing political branding—wonders what would happen to voting dynamics should party affiliations not be listed for candidates appearing on ballots. Lou continues reading from Root’s article on Hillary’s many Achilles’ heels.
Segment III (30:21)
Mike mentions the cult of personality dynamics associated with many politicians occupying the national stage. Mr. X speaks of US Senator Lincoln Chafee and his examination of administration claims prior to the vote to invade Iraq. Chafee voted against that action. X goes on to talk about the highly targeted nature of campaign advertising today, as well as the use of identity politics.
Segment IV (45:44)
More talk of Hillary’s credentials. Lou and Mr. X also mention that they’ll both be speaking at LPEX, the Libertarian Political Expo, next month in Vegas.
